my band opened this show!
hi there,
this show was in bakersfield, and my friend john and i, who played under the name of "jumping trains", were the opening act that night...
it is absolutely staggering that this show has actually surfaced, and i thank one and all who have brought this to light and kept it alive...
incidentally, if anyone has ANY knowledge regarding the original taper/filmer, or how i can somehow get closer to the source, i'd be forever grateful...
i can be reached at geardaddy@gmail.com...if you have any info to offer, no matter how insignificant you may think it is, please email me...
the show was indeed shut down mid-set due to fire code violation...too many people in the club...
WEAK!
anyway, it was fun while it lasted, and equally fun to be able to watch them soundcheck behind closed doors...
i remember this much: glen played bob dylan's "the lonesome death of hattie carol" while the soundguy was dialing him in during soundcheck...very cool...
and damon, my friend, wherever you may be, thank you again for asking us to open the show, and for all the good times we shared at mannequins...
as for the rating, i'm gonna have to give this one a conservative 5 stars!!!

TAPER: unknown
TRANSFER: unknown
LINEAGE: unknown audience video > ??? > damaged DVD-R > DVD Decrypter (with over 4,000 read errors) > Nero 6 > DVD+RW > DVD Decrypter (with no read errors) > Adobe Audition 1.0 > CD Wave > DMC 10 > FLAC (level 8)
NOTES: I got this as a DVD from Luca Toni (fregoli666@hotmail.com), who won it in an illegal Ebay auction. The audio quality is very nice, except there are frequent split-second dropouts throughout, which are pretty annoying after a while. The DVD-R Luca sent me was damaged, resulting in thousands of read errors while ripping, but fortunately they didn't seem to make any difference in the audio or video. The last song, "Nothing Is Alone," is interrupted by a venue worker, who announces that firemen and "about 50" police are outside and need to check everyone's ID. He then instructs the crowd to exit out of the club and get their IDs ready, whereupon the video ends. Luca's Ebay find seems to be the only current source for this recording. Enjoy!
